You can install Aperture Plugins manually, Victoria.
Photo Libraries Migration on a Mac from Aperture to Lightroom. If you’ve tried other applications and plugins that were designed to export your photos into a new catalog, and are tired of waiting for never ending progress bars, you’ve come to the right place. And with iCloud Photos, you can keep all your photos and videos stored in iCloud and up to date on your Mac, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and even your PC. A smarter way to find your favorites. Photos in macOS Catalina intelligently declutters and curates your photos and videos —. A host like Apple Aperture with its lovely editing tools, when combined with the Creative Kit plugins, is given very powerful ‘wings to fly’; it ‘flies’ so high that even an Aperture addict can scarcely believe the unlimited possibilities it possesses by means of the Plugin-introduced Presets. As I told before, I was a Mac user. Now I'm a Windows user. I used to have Aperture and Lightroom when I was a mac user. Now I still have some libraries in my old mac HD's that are in Aperture, so I would like to use this plugin to import them with adjustments, rate and all pre selection that I made before in the Aperture.
Copy them from your MacBook pro to the corresponding folder on your other Mac.
My Aperture plug-ins are installed in one of the Library folders, either in the top level Library folder on the system volume or in the user library. Check these folders for plug-ins and copy them over:
Audio Plugins For Mac
- The user Library: ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Edit/
- The system level Library: /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Edit/
The menu item 'Aperture Plugins' used to link to a page, where you could purchase plug-ins. This page no longer exists. But if you launch Aurora HDR, for example, and use the command Aurora HDR > Install Plug-ins, it will ask you, if you want to install the plug-in for Aperture.

If Aperture’s editing capabilities don’t fully do the job for you, you have several options for spicing up its post-processing capabilities with plugins.
The best set of Aperture plugins is the Nik Software Complete Collection (now on sale for just $149 – look on the right side of the Amazon screen to make sure you buy it from Amazon directly), which includes these very popular Nik software products:
- Dfine 2.0 – noise reduction
- Viveza – precisely control color and light
- Color Efex Pro 3.0 – 52 photo filters with over 250 effects
- Silver Efex Pro 2 – professional-quality black and white conversion
- Sharpener Pro 3.0 – advanced sharpening tool
- HDR Efex Pro – high-dynamic range (HDR) imaging

Plugins For Aperture Mac Software
I recently posted an extensive review of the Nik Software Complete Collection for Aperture, and I recommend it 1000%.
Another popular options is Tiffen’s Dfx Digital Filter Software, which simulates the following:
- Tiffen glass camera filters
- specialized lenses
- optical lab processes
- film grain (YES!)
Dfx also offers:
- exacting color correction
- natural light and photographic effects
- Rosco and GamColor Gel libraries
- Rosco and Gam Gobo libraries for lighting effects
Tiffen’s package looks pretty awesome – particularly the option to add film grain, which I would love for my black and white images. The natural light effects also seem pretty cool for adding dimension to an image.

Amazon is quickly running out of stock on Dfx, though you should keep in mind that there’s a stand-alone version available for just half the price.
